Tuesday, January 15 at 5:30 p.m. – Black and white photographer Cole Thompson will make his case for black and white, contending that it is good for any type of image or genre of photography. He will discuss finding your own vision, following your passion, forgetting about what others are doing and creating images that you love. Three prints will be given away at the end of the presentation.
Cole was born into a world of black and white images. At the age of fourteen he purchased a Sears photo developing kit. He can still remember the magic as that first black and white image appeared in the developer. He was immediately liberated, no longer consigned to just look, he could now create. Cole works exclusively in black and white and says; “For me color records the image, but black and white captures the feelings that lie beneath the surface.”
