Celebrate your freedom to read during Banned Books Week, September 23 to 29, 2018. Every year, in partnership with the American Library Association, the entire book community unites to support the freedom to seek and express ideas regardless of how controversial or unpopular. The books featured during Banned Books Week have all been targeted with removal or restricted in libraries and schools. By focusing on efforts across the country to remove or restrict access to books, Banned Books Week draws national attention to the harms of censorship. Learn more here.
Here at Prescott Public Library, we have created a display of some challenged and banned books for you to check out or learn more about. You can also have your mugshot taken–proclaiming you’ve been caught reading banned books! Are you a Snapchat user? If so, we’ve got a special photo frame filter for Banned Books Week! Stop by and try it out!
We hope you get caught reading this week!
