LOGGING ON WITH YOUR LIBRARY CARD (Good for two 60 minute sessions per day)
- Locate an available computer.
- Move the mouse or press a key to bring up the grey starting screen.
- Click on the green Available link to get to the login dialog box.
- In the login box, type in your 14 digit library card number and your pin, which is usually the last four digits of your home phone number.
- Click on OK.
- If you are unable to log in, bring your card to the Ask a Librarian desk for assistance.
LOGGING ON WITH YOUR GUEST PASS (Good for one 60 minute session per day)
- Locate an available computer.
- Move the mouse or press a key to bring up the starting screen.
- Click on the green Available link to get to the login dialog box.
- In the login box, instead of the 14-digit library card number, type in the letters & numbers printed on your guest pass. You will not need to type in a pin. number.
- Click on OK.
SAVING & DOWNLOADING
- All computers have USB ports and accept flash drives.
- Documents can be uploaded from the computer CD drives, but not downloaded to the CD drive.
- Staff at the Ask a Librarian desk are available to help with questions about saving files.
The Library, Library staff and Library volunteers are not responsible for loss or corruption of data.
WIRELESS ACCESS/LAPTOPS
- Prescott Public Library provides free wi-fi throughout the building and parts of the grounds.
- Access is available with your library card, or with a Wireless Guest Card, available at the Ask a Librarian desk.
- Electrical outlets are available in most areas of the library.
- With your own laptop, there is no time limit.
- Library card holders with a valid photo id can check out a library wireless laptop from the Ask a Librarian desk for 2 hours, with 60 minutes of Internet access for each session.
- Laptops can not be checked out with temporary cards.
PRINTING
- All the public computers on the Main Level print to a central laser printer, located in the main public computer area; KidSpace computers have their own printer.
- Black & white printing costs 10¢ per page; color printing costs 25¢ per page.
- When printing from Word, start print jobs by clicking on the colored circle with 4 boxes in the upper left corner of the tool bar. For other print jobs click File on the upper left hand corner, and then select Print.
- Print Preview will show everything included in the print job and can be used to select certain pages to print.
- Once you enter the print command, you will be shown the amount of your print job. Click OK. Note your PC number and current time.
- Go to the Print Station, and look for your PC number and the time you sent the job to print on the computer screen to the left of the printer.
- Single-Click on your print job.
- Single-Click on the Print button at the top left corner of the screen.
- Single-Click on Pay From Vending Device.
- Insert money into the coin box; it will make change and accepts coins, $1 and $5 bills; you can also get change at the Check Out Desk.
- Click on OK again, then collect your print job from the printer.
