6:30 p.m. Third Thursday Star Talks. Catalina Sky Survey and Target Asteroids! with Richard and Dolores Hill, Technical Staff, Department of Planetary Sciences, University of Arizona. The Catalina Sky Survey has been the leading asteroid survey program for 7 years looking for near earth asteroids, comets or other objects that pose an impact threat to the earth. Rik Hill has been with the CSS since 1999 and will give an overview of their activities, current status and future plans that will keep this survey in the lead for years to come. Dolores Hill, a meteoriticist with Lunar & Planetary Lab, will discuss Target Asteroids!, a citizen science program of the NASA OSIRIS-REX asteroid sample return mission.777.1526
